Feeding the Poor

Nara Narayan Anna Dana Seva

One cherished project of our Mission that is loved by devotees and donors from around the world is our Anna Dana Seva feeding destitute, homeless beggars around the famous Mother Kali Temple, in south Kolkata.

A nutritious, hygienically prepared hot meal is served 365 days to about 80 to 120 men and women whom we see as the veritable manifestation of “Narayana”, God in human form. Many devotee volunteers take part in feeding those who return the gift with bountiful blessings.

We are Feeding God!

“Open your eyes to perceive the message coming from within, telling you God has come to you in disguise. It is God who waits along your path with an empty bowl in his hand. Whenever you serve with an open heart, you take home with you a purified state of mind. It is a gift for going through the process of ‘Seva’, the Bengali word for serving with devotion. Nara Narayan is God disguised as an ordinary human.”

- Bodhi

Repeated severe cyclonic storms, coupled with COVID-19 pandemic, have caused widespread damage to cultivation and all forms of livelihood in some of the Sunderban islands. In response, LDLM now distributes Prasad of one nutritious meal to 130 persons who are carefully selected to ensure that only the most needy receive this service. With your good wishes and support, we are sure to extend this service soon to other nearby villages.
